I used to fill the margins of my high school papers with doodles—patterns, shapes, lines, whatever came out while my mind wandered somewhere else.

Doodling in the Margins takes me back to that version of myself: creating instinctively, without worrying about where it was going or whether it was any good.

Looking at this painting now, I wonder what I was daydreaming about back then. Maybe some version of the life I have now—a life filled with color, creativity, a studio of my own, paintings everywhere, and people gathering around them.

There was no grand plan.

Just little marks in the margins.

And maybe I was drawing my way here all along.

Anna's Process

I work intuitively. Through paint, collage, words, scribbles, whatever feels good. I follow what pulls me, change my mind a lot, and try really hard not to overthink it. And when I do? I usually have to paint my way out of that, too.
