Save the Sweetest Kiss for Me

This is the painting that started She Kept the Promise.

Inspired by a vintage card reading “Save the Sweetest Kiss for Me,” the piece began with something sentimental and familiar—a small message of affection saved from another time. I became interested in the things we write, keep, tuck away, and return to, and in how a few simple words can hold an entire feeling.

I carried the card's shapes and sentiment into the painting through loose arches, layered marks, imperfect color, and handwritten language. What emerged felt nostalgic but entirely alive: part love note, part memory, part promise.

More importantly, it opened a door in my work. I began thinking about the messages we leave for other people—and then about the quieter ones we leave for ourselves. The words we hold onto. The things we hope for. The promises we make before we know exactly where they'll lead.

That idea became the catalyst for an entire collection.

She Kept the Promise began here—with a little love note, and the realization that sometimes the smallest words are the ones we carry the longest.
